FAQ
Why would I want to have an acupuncture treatment?

Acupuncture can help you to:

* relax and feel less anxious

* sleep better

* feel more energized

* prevent illness, including flus and colds

* alleviate physical pain

* think more clearly

* stop over-thinking (especially around bed-time)

* alleviate digestive issues including constipation, GERD, and IBS

* regulate and relieve menstrual, premenstrual and menopausal issues

* augment and/or balance the effects of conventional therapies/medications

Does acupuncture hurt?

I use the finest quality stainless-steel, pre-sterilized, disposable, one-time-use needles which are solid and very thin (slightly thicker than a human hair).  The needles are gently inserted just beneath the skin's surface.  Patients' experiences vary widely; some report no sensation while others report momentary sensations of achiness, tingling or warmth, followed by relaxation.

What is treatment like?

During the first visit, we will discussing your health concerns, history and goals.  With this information, I will be able to assess your situation and recommend a treatment plan. Needles are inserted (in your arms, legs and/or head--you will not need to disrobe) while you lay in a recliner chair or massage table.   You will probably feel very relaxed, and may even fall asleep.  After about 30 minutes, the needles will be removed and disposed.

What are your fees?

Fees for acupuncture treatments are as follows:

$30 for the initial treatment.

$20 - 40 for subsequent treatments.  The sliding scale chart below may give you some idea of what to pay based on your income, but you will never be asked for documentation.  Pay what you can afford.  For 2 or more treatments in one week, the cost will be reduced by $5 per treatment.

Income
Cost Per Treatment
Under $20,000

$20,000 - $25,000

$25,000 - $30,000

$30,000 - $50,000

$50,00 and above

Payments are made by cash or check only and are collected at the end of each treatment.

Because my fees are so affordable, I do no accept insurance.

When will I notice results?

How soon you will respond to acupuncture treatment depends on several factors:

*
How long you've had a specific condition, whether chronic or acute: The longer you've been living with a condition, the longer it will take to heal.

*
How willing and able you are to adapt lifestyle habits: Healthy lifestyle habits are essential to support the healing process and greatly enhance the outcome of treatment.

*
How often you are treated:  For many chronic conditions, I recommend 2 to 3 treatments per week for the first month. The body needs frequent treatment to stimulate its healing mechanisms. Once this occurs and you begin to feel better, treatments can be gradually spaced out as "tune-up" or maintenance treatments. After 3-4 weeks of treatment, we will know if acupuncture is working for you.
